Meaning you complete exercises and get direct feedback on its correctness. Duo has been great for what I always thought of as “formal” language practice. I do plenty of other reading, listening, writing, and language exchanges. Hopefully we get if fixed or I’ll be canceling my long-term subscription breaking my 80 day streak and using other methods to study language.Įdit: I’m seeing some people suggest that I’ve moved past Duolingo or I shouldn’t use it as my only tool. I hope anyone else who feels like they’re learning less does the same thing. I used the feedback mechanism to explain this directly to Duo. The majority of exercises in my Italian lessons are either only single-word fill ins or word bank questions where every word is used and I could do it without translating the sentence or knowing all the words. You learn less but it’s a dopamine hit for users to keep them essentially addicted. I feel like Duo is headed in a direction where questions are less intensive.
